Anyone see the story of the Indian lady with her dead son in the trunk?

From every story I read, Police say they had no reason to search the trunk. Now after 20+ years in law Enforcement when I made an arrest I did an "inventory" of the vehicle's contents as I was responsible for everything in it once I took possession. Does anyone think the arresting officer should be at least suspended? I wouldn't say fired - a mistake is a mistake, but this is crazy. 5 days minimum if I were Chief.
