Palin Bans Library Books? Is that true?
Why did the Obama campaign publish this? Apparently AFTER Palin moved on from Mayor to Governor, someone else had a list of books to be removed, but it wasn't Sarah Palin.
So who fell for this democrat party nonsense?
Another example of a story too good to check out. And Obama's crowd is also promoting the idea that Jesus was a community Organizer and that Pontius Pilate was a gpvenor. Is this supposed to cast Sarah Palin as some sort of evil governor?
The democrats are desperate, but go ahead, answer the question, did Palin Ban Books or not? Let's see how gullible you are to these pro-Obama slurs.
For those who think this is true, please provide the title and/or author of any book that Palin wanted banned? Or is this story too good to fact check?
Name the book title if you believe the liberal smear (which is false).

Actually, what you're talking about is an entirely different situation. She never actually banned books, but she threatened librarians with dismissal on the grounds that they wouldn't remove certain books from the shelves. This isn't a theory, you can look it up. As for the Jesus and Pilate thing, that's nowhere near what they were getting at. The entire point is that there's nothing that makes a governor a better person than a community organizer. Being of one profession doesn't suddenly make you a better person than another.

Justagirl is right that she asked about the process.
But she did NOT fire the librarian.
There was apparently some talk about firing her. I don;t like that. but the truth is that she did not fire the librarian. And it appears that the discussion as to whether the librarian should go had to do with the librarian's support of Palin's opponent in the race. Again, I don't like that, but still, that is apparently the facts.
And where is your link to Obama's campaing spreading these lies & exagerations? Clearly Obama supporters were responsible, but that doesn't mean the campaign itself is responsible.

The woman was fired quite a bit later, not immediately and not for not "banning books". She "Suggested" what a lot of people do for the sake of children reading them that they not be carried in the library, but they could be ordered if needed by a patron.

I think she attempted to. BTW, how is that different than current bans of certain books in public schools? How come no one can explain that?
Huckleberry Finn is banned in our public school system as racist and that was accomplished by a Democratic School Board. So why is Palin so bad?

No, the media just keeps telling one lie after another about her. She did not fire and did not threaten to fire the librarian.

fear smear...they have been scared since Palin became the VP pick...its amazing how much attention a VP gets...and Obama says Republicans aren't talking about the issues when his own party keeps focusing on the VP pick of the republicans...

There is no list. But the fact remains – and is supported by clear evidence from the local newspaper accounts from Wasilla at the time – that Palin asked the librarian what the process was for banning books, and when the librarian voiced her shock and indicated she was against it, Palin fired her. The librarian’s job was reinstated due to local outcry.
Source(s): From the Alaska Daily News, 2/1/97: "City librarian Mary Ellen Emmons will stay, but Police Chief Irl Stambaugh is on his own, Wasilla Mayor Sarah Palin announced Friday. The decision came one day after letters signed by Palin were dropped on Stambaugh's and Emmon's desks, telling them their jobs were over as of Feb. 13. The mayor told them she appreciated their service but felt it was time for a change. ''I do not feel I have your full support in my efforts to govern the city of Wasilla. Therefore I intend to terminate your employment ...'' the letter said. The actions have caused a stir in Wasilla, a town of about 4,600. City Councilman Nick Carney, who has been an outspoken critic of Palin, said he received several calls at his home Thursday night and Friday from outraged citizens." http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/510219.html
