Dancing with your homecoming date?

Hi!

This is my first year going to homecoming with a date. I am going with my really good guy friend and no, we are nottt dating. But to ask my question,

Is it wrong to dance with other guys if you go with a date?... Because i really dont want to be with him the whole time. And if you agree, how should i brake the news to him..? because he totally just wants us to dance together the whole time. I really dont know what to say or what to do because i dont want to be rude or mean or hurtful or anything, ya know? so i have no clue. I need some answers!
