your battery could possible be flat i've had the same problem with my 1994 jeep cherokee, but if your battery keeps going flat your alternator is faulty and needs replacing because the alternator charges up your battery, but try changing the fuel filter first because mine is due a fuel filter change because it's starting to lack in power and is being a pain to start and it's a 4 litre!, hope this helps you, Leo

So you have trouble letting it just sit there and idle?

Could be a couple of things:

Could be a stickey EGR Valve- You can get someone to spray the valve with MAP Spray Cleaner and get all the soot out of it

Could be a dirty sensor wire on the Mass Airflow Sensor-- Spray the little sensor wire that is exposed to the air stream. If it's dirty then you get a bad air/fuel mixture and a bad idle

    Goto Autozone .com

They may have a free online repair guide for the car and you can learn what the parts look like and where they are located

The only other thing i can think of is that the idle control motor is not working. may need replacement.
