I was in in the 80's I thought we had pretty good benefits now

The benefits offered today rival any civilian job

Supporting troops is one thing taking away from the civilians they are supposed to protect to do it is another

    yes that was it VEAP

It required the EM to put in a dollar for every one or two the government did

    It was a voluntary program

the military already gets great benefits and a college fund. also while in service they get hugely discounted education benefits that would make you drool. free medical, clothing allowance, subsidized housing, travel, life insurance, and spat on by liberals who only see them as a pawn to play political games with.....

I served in the 80's and 90's....we had a GI Bill and a gollege fund then and it offers even more now.

Did you know that during the '80s, there was no G.I. Bill? I agree with McCain on this. It will lead to the NCO corps being depleted.

the increase of the gi bill will allow recruiters more ammo to recruit more potential marines/soldiers/airmen/seamen. that will counter the small increase of people getting out because of the increase in school benefits.

and the old old gi bill was called veap or something like that.

people get out because they want out....not because they had their mind changed from awesome school benefits.
