How long can you keep your car insurance 'no claims discount' if you have no current policy?

My car insurance ran out in may this year, with 8 years 'no claims' on it.

I didn't re insure my car as I walk to work now and can use wife's car if needed. My car is sat on drive unused

How long bofore I lose my discount?

You should shop around, but my broker will keep it for four years before I lose it, it's happened to me twice in the past, I've been a driver for 49 years so I've got the 'T' shirt!,

Source(s): Ex insurance rep. Memebers who have said you lose it right away or one or two years are just looking in the wrong place, note my source again EX INSURANCE REP!!
