Warne is DEFINITELY better. They're both good, but Murali has been the only good bowler in his team for years, and Warne has had to compete with Lee, McGrath, McDermott and all the other australian bowlers since he's been playing for wickets. Murali bowls a hell of alot more in matches aswell, up to 20 more overs than Warne during tests, because he is more heavily relied on, which means that he should get more wickets. Also, as what was said earlier, Murali has gotten most of his wickets against lesser skilled sides.

    Murali

Warne was way better and always will be. Murali always gets heaps of cheap wickets coz srilanka tend to play the not so good sides more often than the good ones. Murali doesnt have a great record against some of the better sides like Australia and South Africa. Warne played good against absoultely everyone not just sides like Bangladesh and Pakistan etc.

Warne -- has to come on after the quick bowlers have there lot

Murali -- has been there only bowler for many years and takes a lot of wickets against very poor sides

Murali has failed in australia when it counted

warne is far the better bowler over all

Murali -- has and still is considered a chucker

Taking into considerations the ground conditions these stalwarts bowled in, Shane Warne will have his nose ahead of Murali

    (Comparison :- Test Cricket)

    Murali's wickets

In Sri Lanka - 472 wickets

    in India - 31 wickets

    in Zimbabwe - 26

    in New Zealand -30

    in Pakistan - 49

    in Australia - 12

    in West Indies -37

    in South Africa -35

    in England - 48

    in Bangladesh - 16

(Murali's Average in Australia is 75.41 & in India is 39.58, otherwise it is 27.53 or less)

    Shane Warne's Wickets

    in Australia - 319

    in England - 129

    in South Africa - 61

    in New Zealand - 49

    in Sri Lanka - 48

    in India - 34

    in Pakistan -18

    in West Indies -17

    in U.A.E. - 16

    in Bangladesh - 11

    in Zimbabwe - 6

(Except in India & Pakistan his average is 28.00 or below)

    S. Warne in Subcontinent (including in UAE) - 127 wickets (17.94%)

    elsewhere - 581 wickets (82.06%)

    Murali in Subcontinent - 568 wickets (75.13%)

    elsewhere - 188 wickets (24.87%)

And all know, sub continental pitches favour spin bowling, and elsewhere it is quite tough for spinners

Easy to answer. Warne - because Murali is a chucker.

Very difficult to choose as both are legends of the game but I would say Warne because he can also most of the time spin the ball on wickets suited for faster bowlers.

They both are, Warne got his wickets against tougher teams then Murali.
