The drawer in my washing machine has turned brown!?

We had a drain issue 6 months ago and all our outdoor drains backed up. Nothing came up the kitchen sink that I could see or smell, but the drain hose for the washer is lower than the sink, so I'm terrified it backed up into there! I'd have noticed if anything backed up into the machine wouldn't I? I've ran boiled washes and bleached the machine several times.

And the washer's drawer doesn't smell...it's just mildew, right?

take it out and clean it with washing up liquid. It'll be a scummy soap build up caused by using low temperature to wash your clothes. You should do a hot bleach based wash, without clothes, to keep the machine clear of dross.

Buy a tub of VWP from your local home-brew shop, which is a strong cleaner, steriliser, mix up a strong solution with hot water remove the drawer and soak it in the cleaner.

It's probably just mildew, mine gets like that from time to time and if you pull it gently it comes right out for you to clean it!

Yes you can pull it out and give it a good clean I pull mine out twice a month and clean it.
