Spanish television and latin American CNN is reporting that the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, has given 73 hours to ALL AMERICANS to leave the country.
Bolivia has issued a similar statemente and has kicked out the embassador (so did Venezuela). Honduras is delaying the credentials to the new american embassador!

Irrespective of whether this story is true, there's something here I don't quite get. Perhaps I'm being a bit slow here?
Who should govern Venezuela?
Is it the man who secures a majority of votes in an election for the Venezuelan presidency?
or is it the man whose policies the US president (who wasn't elected in a similarly fair manner) approves of?
It seems unreasonable to just remove all Americans from the country, but when the USA want to deny the Venezuelan people the right to choose their own leader, why does it come as a surprise?

Poor Chavez, that fat hapless s**t. This is a guy that must have been asleep on his feet the last forty years, and is so predictable we can almost afford to laugh. Let's run through the drill, kids:
He has wanted power so badly for so long. Now he has it and instantly put poor Venezuela on a path to "Socialist Prosperity". Two things to remember about that. First (look it up yourselves), not ONCE has a socialist economy ever worked, anywhere it has been tried. The nearest facsimile to real socialism is found in Europe with the various cradle-to-grave protections. Europeans like that, it seems, so much so that they spend much leisure time smugly telling Americans how stupid they are for not living that way themselves. But Lo! The price for such sophistication and wisdom is tax rates so high they boggle the mind and chase investment money to - OOPS! - America. They also suffer a nominal level of unemployment that we saw over here only during the Great Depression. Productivity also arithmetically drops in cradle-to-grave havens because there is less incentive to go that extra mile when the benefits are artificially pumped in regardless. And do not even ignore that all the bankrupting largesse handed out by European governments is possible because, excepting the UK, Europe does not pay for its defense. US taxpayers do. Should we pull out and let the wise and sophisticated Europeans fend for themselves, the party time is gone and the full costs of self-deluding socialism weigh in. Again, Europe still insufficiently subsidized, is the BEST socialism has ever done.
One hundred and seventy-plus years of failures later, along comes Chavez, and the second point: Venezuela was just fine, with a booming market economy, modern infrastructure, and a vibrant population. Chavez begins nationalizing the major industries (poor Mexico!), and expropriating vital commodities as part of the usual tired scheme of income redistribution, all spent to buy the love of supporters. The results? Same as always: foreign investment dries up, productivity nearly halves, the population devolves into poverty, etc. And all to the cheers of Leftists worldwide! Every Hollywood liberal and underworked Labourite snuggles alongside Chavez and it's so sweet and cozy.
But another familiar problem and its equally familiar solution arise; with things now going to s**t there has to be a fall guy, a boogie man to blame it all on. You guessed it - the United States! "We have to tighten belts because the Americans are stealing our wealth, and likely our women! Chavez must be granted dictatorial powers so he can lead - great leader that he is - the fight against the Yanqui!" On and on, you know the drill. Thrilling the hearts of chavs everywhere.
ALL of this has been reported in the press, and if you're tuning in to CNN (Childish Nonsense Network), well, run along and play while the adults tend to things. Bottom line? There isn't and hasn't been plans to invade Venezuela. No joking here; Chavez is doing it for us if you need to believe that's our goal. Venezuelans are a people used to being free and they are quite aware of what they've brought on themselves. The oil Chavez threatens to cut off to America is, I believe, well under ten percent of our requirements; a bit of indigestion but the patient will survive. This latest accusation against the embassy personnel is a gift to the Russians. Chavez is hoping for a Cuba-like infusion of Russian money to prop up the country he's damaged. You definitely won't hear THAT on CNN. After decades of finally creating stable nations in South America based on successful free-market philosophy, those folks have the luxury of indulging in their old addiction, Leftism. You bet they're messing with our emissaries; it's propaganda designed for YOU! Enjoy, comrade!
