Why wont my baby sleep?
I am usually the one giving advice, but on this problem Im lost! I have a 6m 4wk old baby boy who has never slept great, but is getting worse. he falls asleep good. we do his bath, massage, then his bottle, ollowed by binky and blankie while we rock him to sleep. usually within an hour or two hes back awake, or crying, seems like he cant get comfortable. it just keeps on all night.. sleep a bit, wake up for an hour. sometimes its for a bottle and diaper change. ive tried orajel and tyleon which sometimes help but not always. im at a loss here! we have had him checked for ear infection, hes tried meds for reflux but he slept worse after taking those. getting frustrated. i also work and have 2 older children so its been hard having little sleep.
Thanks matt, its comforting to know that it got better for them !

Hi,
I think the most important thing to start with is to get your baby into a good sleep routine. I had massive problems with getting my 4 month old son to sleep. He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again! Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!
It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting James into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!
Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.
Good luck!

Oh man .. I am experiencing this too. My 6 month old daughter starting sleeping through the night when she was 2 weeks old. Now all of the sudden, she is waking 3-5 a night. She is also healthy ... no ear infections, etc. She doesn't seem to be cutting a tooth ... so Im really not sure what to do either :-(

I wish I could help you out, but when my daughter was a newborn she did not sleep either. I tried the whole thing, different bottles, lights on in room , lights off, rocking her to sleep, letting her cry, nothing worked. She eventually did sleep thru the night at 4 years old. LOL yeap it took that long. Hence we only have one child..LOL
