What do you think about the Army's new Dress Blues?

http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/08/army_bluecla...

I think they look stupid and cluttered with stuff. I'm not looking forward to having to wear them. What do you think?

Much better than the old pickle suit and returns to the original US Army traditional dress blue uniform (slightly modified).

My only grievance is the Combat Service Identification Badge...it looks completely out of place. I am going to miss the old blues suspenders.

Edit - Whiskey Tango, you might want to relook the history books to remember seeing the old Army blue uniforms, but they do pre-date the USMC's blues. Blue was George Washington's idea..."General Washington issued a general order October 1779, prescribing blue coats with differing facings for the various state troops, artillery, artillery artificers and light dragoons. " The USMC's blues came along later.

In regards to digital camo, it has more Army roots than anything...LTC Timothy R. O’Neill’s (US Army, retired) digital camo was used on Army vehicles in the late 70's and inspired the Canadian CADPAT in the late 90’s, the U.S. Marines MARPAT in 2001, and now U.S. Army's ACU in 2003.

Given a choice, I'd go back to the WWII era khakis.

They're OK. I'm kinda partial to the pickle suits but these aren't too bad and blues a good representation of the US Army ever since the revolutionary war, so in that sense they're more traditional. I'm looking forward to wearing Marine Corps dress blues instead though, i like the USMC dress blues more. Either way they still look good and portray the US Military in a very professional and respectable manner.

I've had them for about a year now and I don't mind them really. They definitely are different than the greens, but they look good just the same. People will criticize them until they adjust to them. It was the same way with the dress greens, and even the BDU's when they came about. People hate change, but they always adjust. The only downside to them is the white shirt. When you take off the jacket, it just doesn't go as well.

EDIT: To Darwin. You talk of tradition, but part of tradition is that it always changes.

    look stupid with bloused boots.

not a fan of where the combat patches are since i dont like people looking at my waist.

i wish the jacket matched the pants so it doesnt look like one got dressed in the dark.

there is only 1 "Dress Blues" and it is a Marine Corps. uniform. The Corps. was also the first to switch to the digital camo. the Marines is like the cool kid and the army is its older dorky brother.

Just awful. How can the Army talk about tradition when they change the uniform every couple of years?

Looks like crap, another example of the Army trying to be the Marine Corps....LOL... the older dorky brother....hehe....
