Java developer/programming?

well i hav this friend ryt and hes done Java, J2EE and SAP. hes been trying to get a job for a while now but is struggling to. Most companies require experience and has went for many interviews but no result. how does he get into it?

    The keys are:

    * Persistence

    * Being willing to take a worse job to gain experience before you get a job you want

    It doesn't hurt to get some experience by contributing to open source projects either.
