Buffalo is a Democrat only city and Republicans don't have a chance. The biggest problem this causes is a lack of debate on local issues. Since the Democrats run everything they needn't concern themselves with ideas that might actually help a city that has been on the decline for decades..

It's the chicken or the egg type of question. Do the cities have high poverty rates because of the Democratic leadership or do they have Democratic leadership because poor people almost always vote Democratic?
I tend to think it's the latter.

what do all those cities have in common? Lack of job opportunities, high immigration rate and thusly, lower tax rolls for education, police, etc....
its not hard to figure out. If you think this has anything to do with the mayor, get a clue. Most city councils possess more power than mayors.

What about Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Kansas City?

Real simple, you have the wrong correlation there buddy.
The cities were poor, so they elected someone more sympathetic to poor people (Demo).
Your argument is easily countered, but I applaud you for actually thinking and not blindly shouting out hate. Really I do. Not that it probably means much to you.
This is the kind of political question I want to see. One that is relevant, not just random venom.

Good old Republican Rudy G used to run a fair sized city.
Before he decided to run for president, that is.

Why would people who live in cities with high poverty rates vote Republican? So that they could get poorer? Look at what has happened to our country under Republican leadership.

Its a reflection of shifting populations. 40 years ago when more prosperous residents fled to the suburbs for bigger houses, greener living, more modern towns... the poorest people were left behind. Now we see the result of that.
Interestingly we are also seeing people move back to cities. Its the baby boomers who have raised their children and don't want to live in isolated suburbs anymore.

Not to mention the crime rate.
Yep, we need more clowns like these to run our country.
