How do you copy an displayed image to MS Word ? ( please read details )?

We want to do a procedure write up that includes a sequence of computer commands. So that the process can be easily understood, we like to include some screen images appearing in the computer display.

How do we copy a screen shot into a MS word document ?

Thank you.

If you have the print screen button on your keyboard and you are using a PC rather than MAC then hit the print screen key.

I like to crop the screen shot down so normally use Paint which can be found from the Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories, Paint.

Then use the rectangular lasso tool to select the part of the screen you want in the word doc.

Then either use keyboard Shortcut Ctrl and C or Edit, Copy

Then switch to the MS Word file and either use keyboard Shortcut Ctrl and V or Edit, Paste.

You can resize the picture in Word if you need to.

    Good Luck :)

Use Print Screen button or ALT+Print Screen to get just the open dialog box instead of the whole screen.

Also, if you want a better program for doing this, try SnagIt. I use this program at work for creating manuals and it's a lot more fun to work with. You can add all kinds of descriptive arrows, cursors, and comments to the images. And the images can be saved.

When that screen is displayed, press Print Screen Button and then press CTRL+V on the word document.
