    lt sounds like allergies.

My Lab suffers from a dust allergy and also seasonal allergies similar to hay fever, which causes her to scratch and nibble.

There are many things that dogs can be allergic to, but if you see the vet they can find out the cause.

Antihistamines can help and l also get an antiseptic spray that cools down the hot spots and helps ease the itching.

it could be allergies to his food but most likely wet grass, weeds and pollen taht gets his skin wet and makes him itch and get red welts. give him benadryal, since he is a good size try 1 to start in the am and 1 in the pm. u could try 2 at a time if it doesn't seem to help.make sure u wipe any wet area down when he comes in to keep his skin dry and u can apply benadryal cream and an anti itch cream to soothe the areas.my husky has had this problem for years and it gets worse when the spring and warm weather arrives and goes on until the fall when it gets cool. by keeping him out of wet areas and drying his skin afterwards along with the benadryal and creams u should be able to fix him up. if he gets worse call ur vet and get him prenisone to keep him comforable. good luck

He might have a food allergy, you might want to try something different. Make sure that when you introduce the new food you do it slowly, adding a little at a time until they get use to it. I have gone through this with my lab and with trial and error we found out that she is allergic to fleas. So now she gets her flea meds every three weeks instead of four. You might want to check with your vet, but mine recommended giving her benadryl a few times a day to take away the itching. Best of luck with you and your little friend!

It's unlikley he has an actual skin problem, and if he did, you would need to know exactly what it as and what was causing it to begin treating it.

He may just be allergic to something in his food. Besides fleas, that's probably the most common cause of itchiness for dogs. 99% of the dog foods you can buy at the grocery store or Wal-Mart contain known allergens like corn, soy, and wheat, all of which can cause dry itchy skin in dogs. What are you feeding him?
