A space elevator is not a new concept, it has been around for a long time, but the status of material science has not been able ti find a strong yet light enough material to produce the cable from.

Carbon nanotubes are extremely light weight and stronger than steel but I fear they too would not be able to support the weight of the length of "cable" required for a space elevator.

Ahum...carbon nanotubes are virtually diamonds, they are VERY STRONG.

The theory is to make Nanotube tops for Secret Inteligence, Bullet proof, fire proof, even artillery/rocket launcher proof. Unfortunately, they havent though of how to overcome the bruising :L
