Ours were impossible to turn off as long as our lights/siren are activated. Recorded 2 views in the front as well as the back seat. Ran on a digital system that will continuously run on a loop. Once activated it will record the 30 sec before and after being activated as well, all other video/audio is automatically dumped by the system after 8 hours. Unsure of the total capacity of the hard drive but we had to download once a week. Needless to say I enjoyed the system but ultimately it was scrapped by budget constraints.

they are managed by the swap operating the emergency lights fixtures. once you pull someone over you turn on the pink/blue or in basic terms the blue lights fixtures to get their interest, this prompts the digital camera, if the officer leaves the lights fixtures on in the course of the actual, the digital camera maintains to roll. and turns off even as the overhead lights fixtures are grew to grow to be off. same with going code, if you're responding to an emergency jointly with your lights fixtures and siren on, the digital camera is on. it turns off the same way, once you shut off the overhead lights fixtures. The digital camera also information on a loop of about 3 seconds continually even as the motor vehicle is in action in case of an coincidence proper to the patrol motor vehicle, this can supply the investigators a three 2d or a lot less view of what surpassed off.

No it can't. And most of them are digital these days - that's how they don't run out of film. The officers have no access to the camera's themselves. Though if they don't have emergency siren or lights running I beleive they turn themselves off.
