B/c he doesn't need to. And there are many questions that he wouldn't want to answer. Questions about $$$, payments, assistants, players etc

He's tried to turn the broncos into his own club, and finally got forced out when they realised that they were underperformaing and it was always the fault of the assistants that kept getting hired and fired by him

The guy has a "guru" reputation, but blind freddy could have won all those premierships with what was an Origin team in a Club comp, and had home state advantage every second week. The broncos were rarely a dominant team week in / week out, just won some finals - which they should with the team they had all through the 90s

He may be a decent enough coach, but no guru.

Coward? You obviously know nothing about the character of Wayne Bennett and the way he has gone about his life against the adversity that he's faced within his family.

When you've managed to raise two disabled children while holding down a high profile job at one of the country's elite sporting organisations for more than 20 years and during that time been the most successful coach of all time then come back and make judgements on the man's character.

If Wayne doesn't speak to the media what business is it of yours or anyone elses? If his employer is happy with the situation, and I'm guessing that six premierships in the 21 years of Bennett's tenure would have the Broncos reasonably satisfied, then everyone else should keep their misguided opinions to themselves.

As another respondent mentioned, we already have the show pony coaches (although I wouldn't have used Bellamy as an example of such) who love getting their face on the television so it's comforting to know there is at least one coach who has chosen his place out of the spotlight. Rugby League already has enough of the 'Phil Gould' type personalities. The game doesn't need any more.

  • What do you want him to give an interview about? I assume he has his hands full focusing on fulfilling the obligation he has to his employer, the Brisbane Broncos Rugby Leagues Club, that is Coach of the football team.

Anyone who knows anything about Bennett and the Broncos, would know the reason he and the club have been so successful, is because he is a tremendous developer of men. The club and with no small input and control by Bennett have in the past released/sacked several players for repeated off field indiscretions, namely Neville Costigan, Ian Lacey, Brett Seymour. Even players who have left the club after Bennett poured out more than his coaching prowess into them such as Justin Hodges etc, have been welcomed back by Bennett and the club, showing their great acceptance and willingness to work with players and their issues.

No I'm not a broncos fan, Just a league fan who recognizes excellence in the game and appreciates the game, despite it's off field issues.

cln_russ is some kind of idiot...not only has he no idea about what coaches responsibilities are, but cannot spell. You obviously are from NSW! Let Bruno Cullen deal with the off field dramas. Wayne Bennett is there to guide the Broncos on the field and try to foster a feeling of team belonging once they're off the field as well. He can't control these boys' behaviour 24-7 you fool, and why should he have to comment on it at an interview? It's not his job.

  • Why would he give an interview he is getting his team ready for a final.

He's what you call respected, definetly not a coward. He only gives interviews when he has something to say and obviously he has nothing to say.

And he is definetly not a big wig . He goes out of his way to be behind the scenes and is very humble.

    YOU BLOODY CHEWY.

Do you even watch N.R.L?? Everyone knows Bennett is notoriously tight lipped, especially since the broncos are preparing for the biggest game of the year.

He is not like those hollywood types like Bellamy or Freddy. He is not interested in being on tv. Why is that hard to understand?

I hate to say it but I have to agree with everyone. I admire his resistance to giving interviews. He's a rugby league coach not a celebrity. If all players and coaches followed his lead there would be a lot less off field indiscretions.

I think you are being unnecessarily harsh on Bennett. In his 21 years of coaching you could nearly count his interviews on one hand.

HAHAHA not really a coward. the cowards are the ones that own casablanca complaining about lockeyer taclking some guy where they have no proof its him, or that he was even at that venue.

plus, dont insult him. he's one of the best coaches ever.
