lower back pain reliever?

Yesterday I lifted this heavy trash bag and suddenly felt this pain in my lower back, the pain has been there since then and won't go away.

I have to go to work, other than a Doctor and medication; what's a good way to relieve it for now?

You should just use a heating pad, BUT on a temporary basis. Then check out the doctor's advice. I want for you to feel better soon. What shall we then say to these things? If GOD be on us, WHO can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the GOD of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19 Peace!!!

6 mo. of back pain is a long time to suffer. you should see an orthopedic Dr.He will do x-rays and possibly an MRI. These will show what is going on. If in fact you have ruptured a disk or something the faster you see a Dr. the better off you will be.I have a friend in Church that is only 16 and she hurt her back cheerleading, she sought advice from an ortho. Dr. and she had really messed hers up bad...Now she sees a pain clinic every month and has to have shots ( epidurals) etc... so if it has hurt you that long and is really bothersome you really need to go ahead and make an appt. I really hope this has helped and I hope you get better real soon, Id lay off the basketball until then, k... As for now.. Ibuprofen worked best for me until the Dr. told me to take the priscriptions he gave me.

Bed rest is not really recommended anymore. Keep moving but try to stay below pain. Try stretching, walking, motrin (anti-inflammatory) and cold/hot compresses. If you lifted wrong, you may have a bulging vs herniated disk. Ask MD for x-ray if pain persist - it will show if there is even space between the vertebrae.

I have lower back pain a lot caused by tightened muscles.

Use a muscle relaxant, mine is prescribed by the doctor. Also a percussion massager helps a million, and hot showers with my body folded over with me touching my toes and the shower on my back helps sometimes too.

A muscle pain like that is usually indicative of a serious injury as your muscles are trying to compensate for something wrong-- so please for your benefit see the doctor asap.

heating pad -or- hot water bottle, will temporarily relieve it, also ibuprofen or acetaminophen (advil or tylonol, recommended dose) will help as well. try stretching the muscles, you can find some excercises online, it may hurt to perform the excercise but the after affects will feel amazing. also try massaging it, or having a friend / family member massage the affected area, it may loosen any tight muscles. you could also buy one of those hot or cold patches to wear at work. rest as much as you can and dont aggrevate it any more by doing any strenuos labour.

    good luck !

stretch. stand up and reach for ur toes. this stretches the muscles in ur lower back and the hamstrings that are attached to ur back. hold the stretch for at least 20 seconds. do this twice a day. also, lay on ur back, and hold ur knees to ur chest. this stretches the lower back as well. if u want a more thorough stretch, when ur doing the "touch ur toes" cross ur left foot over ur right, hold for 20 seconds, then put feet next to each other, hold for 20 seconds, then put ur right foot over ur left and hold that for 20 seconds as well. ibuprofin will help the imflamation too. and eat a banana for the potassium. best of luck! : )

    Stretches.

    Also improving abdominal muscles.

Most people dont realize that the abs provide support for the back.

Back pain can be done away with entirely by doing ab exercises.
