I am new to yahoo answers... what do our points mean? How do I get the points, how are they taken away?

Refer to the Scoring Chat and Points System sheet I'll give you below.

First of all, Yahoo Answers is a site designed to help users share answers with each other, under a multitude of Categories. Check on the side, on the main page, or click on ALL Categories - most categories contain everything you'd like to know or ask about. Browse them!

Next, when you see questions you like, simply click on the question, - there'll be a large Blue Bar saying "Answer this question" - Answer, spellcheck, and submit. We receive 2 pts. per each answer, and if your answer is good, you'll receive an extra 10 points if picked by the Asker.

You receive 100 pts. to get you started, you receive a bonus point for logging in each time, and you can answer your daily limit, helping you to "Level up" (See the chart).

Make sure to vote on Unresolved questions, also - you receive an extra point for helping to resolve tie-breakers, and choosing a "Best Answer". These are questions in Voting that the Asker has put there on purpose, or by not picking an answer. Look for the "Vote" tab on any page.

Also try to ask questions sparingly, if at all. First do a "Search" on the "Search for questions" up above. More than not, your answer is there.. and asking a question is - 5 points.

Here is a list of what point are needed for each level

Level 1 > 1-249

Level 2 > 250-999

Level 3 > 1,000-2,499

Level 4 > 2,500-4,999

Level 5 > 5,000-9,999

Level 6 > 10,000-24,999

Level 7 > 25,000+

How you earn point.

Choosing best answer for your question + 3 points.

Voting best answer + 1 point.

Being picked as best answer + 10 points plus 1 point for every thumbs up to a maximum of 50.

Logging in to yahoo answers each day + 1 point.

How you loose points.

Receiving a violation - 10 points.

Deleting a answer - 2 points.
