They are all the same. The only difference is that certain localities have different names. For example, Florida calls them panthers. In South Dakota, we called them Mountain Lions. Here in California, they are usually called Cougars. I forget where they are called Pumas, perhaps in Canada.

No it is not. In fact cougar and mountain lion are two different names for the same animal. In Central and South America it is known as the puma. And there is also a supsecies in Florida that is called the Florida panther. It is a cat with multiple names.

cougar, puma, mountain lion, tawny devil, catamount, North American panther, and a few other names I have forgotten, are all the same species of cat. It is North America's largest cat.

There is no difference, they're just different common names for the same animal - its scientific name is Puma concolor (formerly Felis concolor). It has several other names, too, such as puma, catamount and catamountain, and the subspecies found in Florida is often called the Florida panther. Beautiful animals, here's an image:

cougar, mountain lion, puma, cata-mount, panther, all the same animal only different regions have different names for each of them. really it depends on where you live.

It all depends on who you ask. They are one in the same animal. And did you know, that the cougar is the only large cat that purrs?
