No. There is no Yahoo! Lottery, and we would never send you information about a contest you never entered.

That’s the definition of unsolicited: you never asked for it. It showed up out of nowhere.

The message probably also displays two other hallmarks of fraud emails: it appears to be official (with company logos, even links), and it demands urgent action “to claim your prize”, or something similar.

If you’ve received a message like “Final Notification: Yahoo! Mail Winner!” or “Your Email Address Has Won $XX million”, it’s a scam.

Don’t reply to the email, don’t click on any links in it, and never divulge any personal information. Instead, click Spam.

Yahoo! Mail will never request personal information in an unsolicited email.

If you get an email that looks like it’s from Yahoo! but tells you you’re the winner of a Yahoo! Lottery or other contest – and it asks you to email personal information to claim a cash prize or reward – click Spam to dispose of it. You can also forward the suspicious email to mail-spoof@cc.yahoo-inc.com. Thanks!

"Phishing" is a play on the word "fishing" — because perpetrators are "fishing" for your private information or trying to find ways to trick you into sending them money.

Yeah, Congratulations! You fell for it just like most everyone else did. Nope, there is no such thing as a Yahoo lottery. Or Messenger Lottery. Or free money from Yahoo. This is spam. spam. spam. spam.

I have received the same type of emails

NEVER even open an email that says you won something that you NEVER even entered!

ITS ALL SCAMS just to get your personal information or money from you

And I think you can even get a virus on your computer from opening

such an email.

I am sure we all would LOVE to "Win" tons of money or whatever but Its not worth risking your computer or Identity

Scam, scam, scam. if you ever get an email saying you have won anything, and they start asking fo information they want to steal your identity and clean you out. Do not answer them.

In fact report it to Yahoo, because it is obviously not their email. People can make emails and fake web pages look very authentic.Also , block their email in your mail program.

It's a scam. Ignore it and don't send any details or especially money. Repeat - IT'S A SCAM!

Do a Search for questions (in Answers) on 'Yahoo lottery' and see how many gazillions of people ask this same question.

People can easily spoof outbound e-mail addresses. They can mask who is really sending with Yahoo mail for example, or Ebay. They would contact you elsewhere if you really won that much. They would ask you to call their head office and verify ownership etc.

That's indeed a scam. A SCAM. Ignore, and never respond to scam mails. Put this mail in your junk mail or spam mail, and delete it. Report this to Yahoo!

a SCAM I got a mail that said i won Money from the Shell gas Co. it wanted all the info PH. #,etc. All scams.

Do research. If you can't find any "Yahoo lottery", then DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO, DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY. I have never heard of any yahoo lottery and it must be a scam. SO DO NOT CLICK ON THAT EMAIL!

Report it to Yahoo immediately.

Do not send any of your personal information. That is how they get your identity and steal your money and your life.
