I have a desctop with Vista Home Premium.

Yes. But i would use sometype of partition software to make sure it doesnt wipe your windows vista boot system file. It may not though.
Infact you could try creating a partiton with Windows Vista . Go to Control Panel, System Maintenance, Administrative tools.
Just install linux into the new partition. Ive done it before it worked fine with ubuntu the last time i did it.
