    If broadband:

-- Buy a switch or router to plug them both into and then send them out to the internet through a broadband modem or use a broadband modem which has more than one socket to connect computers to - the sockets are called ports. Both computers need a network connection which may be already in your computers.

    Broadband or dialup:

-- Set up Internet Connection Sharing and link one computer to the internet through the other. This involves one computer (computer 1) having two network connections if you are using broadband - one to go out to the internet via the modem and the other for computer 2's network connection port to be plugged into. (This means that if computer 1 already has a network connection on the motherboard, a network card will need to be installed as well.) The network cable needs to be a "crossover cable." If you are using dialup, both computers use a network card each and connect by a crossover cable. One computer connects to the internet through the modem.

If you are using broadband, I recommend the first option.

    EDIT:

Duh, yeah... I always forget about wireless because we don't have/use it. Good point by peasemould. In which case, substitute ethernet network cards for wireless network cards.

Buy a router and make it so your Internet connects through that instead of your other computer.

Make sure both computers have an Ethernet port so you can hook them up to the router. Or wireless connectivity (but you'd have to buy a wireless router for that)
