Do you think there is any difference between Democrats and Republicans when it comes to spending?

Democrats are complaining about the bank bailout, (so am I); But the bailout money has to be approved by the democratic congress.

Theoretically, there is suppossed to be a difference between the two party's regarding spending. Republicans campaign on fiscal responsibility (no or low budget deficits, limited earmarks, aversion to burgeoning bureaucracies, low taxes), while the Democratic platform supports the maintenance of social spending and elevated taxes. We all know this, but both parties are like gluttonous pigs at the trough of the tax payer wallet.

The problem with our current government's spending and economic habits is that it is socialism paraded as market reform and regulation! A company is going down the tubes and threatens the stability of global markets? Why do we instinctively turn to government? Why not let the free market work?! Yes it will be painful at first, but getting rid of some of this commercial deadwood will pay off in the end. Instead, our taxpayer dollars are used like morphine given to a dying patient. Yes, it feels good at first, but does it heal the sickened? We are going to find out later, much to our dismay, that our government (in pursuit of a quick election year fix) has sacrificed long-term economic strength for budgetary gimmicks. Same on us for electing these swindlers!

This happens quite a bit, remember the war?

They were labeled as obstructionist and unpatriotic unless they voted for it, ditto the further financing of the war. So they did. They still got labeled obstructionist and unpatriotic, and not for the troops.

We should have saved our money.

So now, today, the Republicans are all over the airwaves, complaining about the bailout, at the same time they are saying pass it quickly.

Don't even look at it, just pass it.

Or the Democrats will be labeled obstructionist and uncaring about the economy.

So they will approve it, because really, in the rush who has looked for another way, and they keep getting told its the only way or we will be in another Depression, which the Republicans will blame on the Democrats because they had a one vote majority for just under two years, just as they are again blaming Clinton for a thirteen year old law that deregulated businesses, that they wanted, and they didn't amend for years, but they still blame Clinton, because its convenient, and really, who even remembers the guy who is in charge now?

And if Congress would have listened to the McCain and Bush earlier, this wouldn't have happened. But look at the Bush Derangement Syndrome nuts going berserk.

Republicans spend far more and don't tax accordingly. Democrats help the Reps to bail us all out- by then it is too late to do anything else. That's my take I don't care how anyone spins it.
