What are the typical jobs options for someone going into the Air Force under General Aptitude area?
I leave for basic in a little over a month and am enlisting under the general aptitude area. I have looked at the different careers that are offered under that category but was wondering which jobs most people get. I am most interested in security forces which i was told wont be a problem to get into under general, but have also been thinking about other careers that fall under general such as TACP or EOD. My question is are TACP or EOD completely out of the question going in under general or do i have a legitimate shot at getting one.

there are a ton of jobs, too many to list. i would recommend talking to your recruiter or visting the AF's web page. I came in open general and ended up in maintenance admin, i don't turn wrenches but i do administrative work. anyways, your best bet is to talk to your recruiter. and to be 100% honest, if you come in open general without a guaranteed job you most likely won't have any say in what you get, even though they will ask you what you want. don't get you hopes up but keep an open mind. you will have a chance to cross train later in your career if your first job doesn't do it for you, so long as you stay out of trouble. good luck!

There are no typical jobs people get.
What jobs your offered, depends on two things.
1. What your general area score is -- what jobs you qualify for
2. What jobs, have Tech Schools, with class openings, within two weeks of you graduating Basic training.
For jobs like CCT, TACP, EOD, they have pre Tech School requirements, IE: physical standards that you must meet.
60% of all jobs in the Air force, are reserved to be assigned during basic training.
Whats it is gonna come down to, is what jobs have class openings, right after you graduate basic training.
Those are the jobs you will be offered.
Most people, forget, Tech Schools do not have class's that start every week, some only have 2 class's a year.
And they are not going to let you wait, 5 months on active duty, without a job, so you can attend a Tech School.
