Why are there so few thoughtful answers to political questions? ?
I have to be honest, it's a little depressing to see all these nasty, confrontational and all too often ignorant comments. From both sides. I have to admit, I've made a snarky remark or two, but there is some downright meanness bordering on crazy talk going on here. Any thoughts?

I do my best, but I'll admit I've been a little depressed lately. I've been having problems with my family, and I havent dated in a very long time, and I've been out of work for a month now (admittedly I hated the job). I suppose because of my educational background I feel like I should be doing more and I am sorry.

I think there are a few elements to this question.
The first is a general ignorance amongst the public of politics in general: many people are totally apathetic. Many who do care, myself included, are still fairly ignorant because political parties are so rarely clear and transparent on their policies and agendas.
I live in the UK, when you see politicians in the Houses of Parliament jeering at each other like school children its hardly surprising that the general public can also take on closed-mindedness and childish attitudes. How often do you hear a politican support the idea of an opposition party. Even the terminology shows how combative politics is - "the opposition". It would be so refreshing to see politicans acting respectfully and rationally, admitting when the other party has a good policy or standpoint and synthesising ideas. All too often rather than stating their own policies and ideas, a Party will simply criticise the policies of others. Their seems so little genuine dialogue, I guess you could call it dialectical processes, or synthesis between parties. This is surprising, especially as the lines in this country are increasingly blurred between parties of the traditional Left and Right.
With the constant exposure of high level corruption in politics across the world it sometimes makes me despair. Then I have to stop thinking about it all and just get on with my day to day life. Politics makes you apathetic. Maybe thats what the politicians want: submissive masses. A feeling that they are separate from us, following their own agendas, rather than serving the people as they are elected to do.

Agree with your sentiment. I have resigned myself to the realization that neither candidate will have the ability to effect much change at all once they take over with the monumental changes happening to the economy.
Political discourse seems to involve name calling and a few with sickening theories and conspiracies. I am guilty of the name calling, though that is infrequent.

I guess every once in a while we all get crazy when we try to get a point across. Well for some its how they allways are, but for others we just get fired up when we talk about something we truly believe in.

This place is like a diamond mine. You spend day and night digging and grinding and usually end up broke, but every so often you come across a real gem.

Look at the stupid "questions" on these threads ....
They attack with little responsibility .... they do not have to tell the truth ..... they just smear
A good portion of these "questions" are tirades or infomercials for their candidate ....

Because there are so few people... who know the answers.
