I'm from the U.S. and I want to go to Cuba on vacation. Can I buy my ticket in Toronto or somehwere in Canada?

Does everybody know how to plan this trip going via Canada. I asked the travel agents here but all they say is "it's not allowed". Also, is anybody going there soon with a group i can join? it's prolly cheaper to go as a group. Thanks.

I am American, my mom was born in Cuba and we went three years ago through the Bahamas. I would go through the Bahamas rather than Canada cause Canada is farther away. But, it does not matter. If problems arise when you reach the airport after they see an American passport I would be more than happy to give you the info of my uncle in Cuba he is very friendly with Fidel and govt because he was a revolutionary and is the first Cuban doctor to perform open heart surgery and he will give you the papers you need ASAP. Also the good thing about reaching the airport in Cuba is that they do not stamp your passport, so on your return to the States no one would know you were in Cuba.

This happened to us, my mom was born in Cuba but has an American passport she had to get her Cuban one otherwise we could not go cause we are all American. So we were sidetracked for the day and went to the Embassy we got the papers in 3 hrs and went back to airport and good to go.

You are right to say it will be cheaper to go with a group but they are hard to find. Cuba is unexpectingly very expensive, especially the tourist areas. However, the people are very friendly and it is a very safe country women have been known to walk the streets late hours w/o anything happening. Havana is a city with tons of nightlife. I suggest you go see La Havana Vieja and Tropicana Club.

If you want an itinerary like the one I had or want any added places feel free to ask. If you want to save up travel like the Cubans. Aero Caribe the national carrier is not that expensive and the bus system is not expensive can take you to different provinces and its a very advance bus system or you can take the typical Cuban camello its a Soviet styled bus that fits 80 Cubans in the back or so thats the cheapest way to travel. The people are friendly total strangers will strike up convos and it is not uncommon for Cubans to offer you coffee at their homes.

    Anyways, recommended itinerary:

1.) Havana - Of course the capital

2.) Varadero - The most beautiful beach I have ever seen; its been ranked high to. A lot of Europeans.

3.) Santiago - Where my family was born, Cuba's 2nd city and has large festivals.

4.) Cayo Coco - Lavish resort city

5.) Vinales - See the Valle of Vinales (Valley of Vinales) beautiful

6.) Moron (Nice historic city, check out the Rooster statue)

....I have a lot more places, I went for 3 weeks, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I'm a travel agent in Canada, we do Cuba packages all the time. We generally do not get Americans wanting to go to Cuba, as travelling on an American passport to Cuba will get you into trouble upon your return to the United States.

Well, you are asking the agents to do something illegal, why involve them? I imagine that you will need to make two separate flights, one ending in Canada and then one to Cuba from there.

But keep in mind that it is illegal for a US resident, and there are consequences.

Hi! I always get my tickets from stubhub. They always have good seats and prices. I've helped many get good deals for the Jonas Brothers!
