Okay I have vista too and I had this problem for a while. Download Ccleaner. This is a VERY useful program and can be used to clean out garbage from your computer as well. It's safe and is on download.com (everything on that site is safe). When you get the program, there is going to be a tab on the left for removing startup programs. You can do this through your computer but it's a big pain and not all of the programs come up. Plus you would be able to scan your computer for useless files. I had a missing drive pop-up coming up for 3 months. I couldn't get rid of it using the regular add or remove programs that comes on your computer. I removed it using ccleaner, and there was some corrupt file left behind and ccleaner got rid of that too and I must really say, it sped up my laptop so much.

(1.) Click start
(2.) Select [All Programs]
(3.) Select [Accessories]
(4.) Select [Run]
(5.) Type msconfig and press OK. (You will be prompted to continue)
(6.) Click the startup tab and select the programs you don't want to start when Windows Vista starts.
(7.) Click OK and restart your computer.
Hope I was helpful.

Go to search under Start and type in "msconfig" and then click the startup tab. Uncheck what you don't want and it won't turn on.
