Down Memory Lane: Was this the greatest love poem ever written?
*Over two years ago before the poetry link was established as a separate thread (de-linked from books & other arts/humanities), a few veteran poets/critics, like Lady Annabella, may recall this seemingly simple love poem. Yes, there have been many better-written poems. However, it earns position 7 on my subjective list of the top-ten most memorable poems to have graced these links since I joined. If a poem were to be judged 'great' on the basis of the number of responses it generates, then 'yuyu' (the poet) is unbeatable!
This poem generated not 40, not 50, not 60, not 70 and not 80 answers but a whopping 88 answers!!
*You may view my profile - "starred questions" and look for yuyu's question - "what do you think of this poem?" You may also access her public profile to read her other poems and the 88 responses this poem generated. The poet may still be around. What a record!!
What's so special about the poem?
7.
What do you think of this poem?
- By yuyu
When he walks he talks and there is no doubt about that
He reminds me of a thousand warriors
In a battle where he’s the winner
A taste of his kiss reminds me of honey molasses
There’s just no way to describe his scent
It is like no other
He’s got me caught up mentally, spiritually
He got me feeling like spring
With its blossoming flowers
Light of my life he is
Shining brightly through my soul
Emancipating me from girl to woman
Deep as the ocean I feel his touch
His masculinity has bewitched me forever
*Addition: well, I said it's 'memorable' not the 'greatest.' It is memorable since it had 88 responses and that's the gist of my question. See conditional, 'if'! Ugly things or events can also leave lasting impressions in our minds! This is not my poem and it may even be stale or plagiarized but no poem to-date has attracted more answers! My count-down is on memorable poems not necessarily, what I consider the best-written. Re-visit my question.

I'm sorry. I totally disagree this time around. I once wrote much better than that!
(before i lost my Muse that is)
This can only be the lyrics for Paris Hilton's new single.
That is the standard of this poem from my taste of judgment (refer to theory of Aesthetics by Immanuel Kant).
Yes, this lyrics might be a hit being sung by Paris Hilton. It suits her and the nature of songs that she might sing.
A good song lyric? Yes. A good poem? No.
Source(s): I wrote good poetry since i was 17, lost my Muse a year ago. Trust me i know when a poem is good. I also know when it's not so good and when it's a total crap. - Tony hLv 71 decade ago
Definitely not!
Even the writers on this page can do better than that and great poets abound. Try Yeates' poem
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams

There are many images in this poem, but I am not among the 88. For whatever reason, I don't feel it.
It is now early, well before dawn. I will read it again in the light of day.

Yes. A week ago in Hakone. My shirtless crush running around. First time I got to see him without a shirt. What a night...

You're kidding, right?
"a taste of his kiss reminds me of honey molasses" ?
"deep as the ocean I feel his touch" ?
This stuff is like that censored B-Porn on HIlton's Pay-per-View
Just my un-educated, humble (sugar-coated) opinion.
