Does anyone know if Stide Rite shoe sizes differ from others?

At target my son fit into a 4.5 but I used the stride rite measure guide and it says he wears a 7. That's a big difference. I'm doing this online. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Stride Rite's shoes in my opinion run rather large. My daughter wears a size 6, but she still fits into her size 5.5 stride rite shoe. Also, the sales associate at stride rite will usually put them in a size or so bigger that way they have room to grow into the shoe, and that's a good thing considering stride rite shoes are so expensive.

I spoke with the sales associate at stride rite a few months ago and he recommended that I buy shoes that are at least 1/2 to 1 size larger than my daughter's actual shoe size for growing room, or you will be buying new shoes every few months.
