Here's how I do it.
Step 1: Google the album you want with artist and download site. ( example- Slayer show no mercy megaupload)
Step 2: You will get 100's of sites, choose carefully! Viruses abound! I usually go for blogspots.
Step 3: Click the sight and then click or copy their download link.
Step 4: Follow the download page instructions and there you have it.
Some download sites have limits as to how much you can download for free. Like Megaupload, Rapidshare, and Gigasize.
I have Zillions of downloaded files, all were free and I never used some crap like Limewire or Torrents or any of that P2P stuff.
Good Luck!!!!

Find a video with the song playing in the background on http://www.youtube.com/ Make sure the video has no dialogue, just the song. (Most likely, the music video, if there is one)
Then, copy the video URL (the link to the video) and go to http://www.converttube.com./ Then, paste the URL in the space provided, check audio only, and then click "convert and download". Once this is done, it will take a while to load. Once it is done loading, click "download". Then a box will appear that says "Run" "Save" and "Cancel." Select save, and choose where you want to save the song.
Hope I helped :)
Or, download Limewire. Limewire is how I get most of mine, but if you're looking for a definite safe way, than the way I explained above is good.
