Do you guys feel like this?

I have never understood it either. There are plenty of poor and starving people here in the US that need help. Many times people forget to be charitable right here at home.

Look at all the doctors and dentists that provide free care to people in other countries. I wonder if these same people would provide free care to a family here. It is very doubtful.

Actually I never thought of this. I think I know the reason, and that is because by donating to foreign countries (rather than our country), some people feel better about themselves. They feel better because they believe that more people are much less fortunate in third world countries rather in our country (even though their are also people suffering in our country). Its a confusing topic. Just know that they are doing the right thing, even if they aren't donating to our country, they are still helping out the world, which still counts.

If this bothers you, know that you can make a difference and help out our country.

But the media likes to FOCUS on people doing good things in other countries because it looks better on TV.

Brad and Angelina may have helped out in other countries, but they also built houses with habitat for humanity for the victims of Katrina. They live there now.

true that, but at least they're helping somebody, you cant really get to upset if they're just uneducated. As much as i agree with you, some ppl would argue that most hungry Americans have a much better chance to turn things around than those in poverty in other countries.

i think they should spend more time here and help here we have people here in this country that are the same way i am not saying stop helping over their but we need help here too i think you are very right and it makes me mad that no one wants to help the poverty and hunger problems here

Celebrities will do what they want when they want - they don't have to answer to anyone, do they?

celebrities are not deep thinkers and for the most part i think their agents set up the photo ops. the agent isn't going to make anything off of a big name going to the hometown soup kitchen . it is shameful that celebrities and government agencies as well as big corporations see the out side world as more important (read as valuable) than our own people. tmm

hmm you have a point. but if you look at it really close poor people in hobos in the U.S. are still lucky because they recieve shelter or can get shelter. we have so many advantages her in this country. thats why they call it the land of opportunity. if you go to other countries esp the poor ones, africa, asia, theres hardly no shelter, medicare, medicade, or welfare. they survive on nothing because their government doesn't support them

we fuel thier riches. And also they do that **** just for publicity. Maybe with the economy being in shambles some celebs wil turn inward and try and help america more.

You kno wat? I thought about the same thing a while back..also how there are sooooo many kids today that need to be adopted in the U.S. and celebreties go out to third world countries and adopt kids out there when they can be helping the ones here in the U.S.
