Interpreting Chinese Culture-Is she interested in me?

Hello, I'm an American male and I'm wondering if this Chinese girl is attracted to me or if it's just her culture.

She just recently arrived in America to study. Ever since she's been here she always sits next to me in class, starts conversations with me (even in awkward times), asks about my personal life, and most importantly, she has been trying to get me to go to lunch with her...even offering to pay.

Now the problem is she has a boyfriend, or some sort of one. One day I was talking to her and asked if she had a boyfriend, she said yes and said she sometimes talks to him over the phone.

I asked her over to my house and she gladly accepted the invitation. I'm not sure where to go from here? Is she interested or just acting in a different culture?

Male-female close platonic friendships are quite common in Chinese culture. The fact that she's always talking to you could indicate that she's trying to improve her English, and the fact that you keep engaging her in those conversations an open door for more practice. Going to eat together is a common Chinese friendly pastime, and Chinese ALWAYS want to pay the tab themselves (they do not split the bills like we do, and arguments always ensue about who gets to pay). She may very well like you, but the behavior you mentioned is not at all uncommon. When she comes over your house, you should get a pretty good idea of her intentions. I guess you'll just have to wait it out.
