As little as possible. I have thick hair (or rather, I used to--thanks, Grand-dad!), and it's really at it's best when you don't do a whole lot to it. When it's kind of short, it gets what they seem to call "body" or "verve", when it gets longer it starts to get a bit wavy, and if you condition it properly it will look really nice.

Don't put in a bunch of hairspray or crap like that, it just makes you look like you have an ugly hat and ruins the luxurious texture of your locks (which is what thick hair is all about).

Well, layering and thinning your hair (professionally) can make it easier to style and handle... if you have wavy or curly hair, putting anti-frizz serum or cream in damp hair and letting it dry naturally is an easy way to do it. Or, just straightening it with a high grade straightening iron (not a $20 one from Wal-Mart) can work really well, too.

My hair is very thick, so I feel your pain. I usually don't really 'style' it but I use gel or water to flick it up. I have short hair so it is very easy to flick up, but if it involves longer hair I'm not really sure what you could do. I think maybe longer hair could be best tied up, you know you could always ask a hair dresser, just pop in and ask or ask at your next appointment. Hope I helped you. Caitlin xoxo.

    What is your hair type?

    Curly?

    Straight?

Puffy/Frizzy with Awkward Waves? (that's me! lol =D)

For curly, I would say either add mouse to control frizz (with thick hair it can get out of control, especially on humid days!), or straighten it and put a shine serum in it.

For Straight, I would say to just straighten it a bit more in the mornings, don't sleep on your hair while it is wet, use a shine serum to control frizz, or even wear it up in a low sloppy bun.

Then if your hair is in-between, just straighten it our add mousse and scrunch!!!

I have thick hair too! but ive learned to love my head of hair... you can do a lot with it... =D

There are lots of ways, you can curl it with a curling iron, you could straighten it with a flat iron, you could braid your hair in small sections and wear it wavy. I see lots of girls and women wearing their hair in buns or ponytails with the front swept up sort of like Gwen Stefani or even Buster Poindexter. You can also wash it and put plenty of hair gel in it, let it air dry, and wear it curly for a day or two. Depending on the length, you could wear a french braid as well.

    I have extremely thick hair...

I use a shampoo to keep it smooth and soft, without frizz

Then I sometimes straighten it, or scrunch it with a little hair spray

My hair, apparently like yours, is thick also. Materials: Conair ceramic straightener, Paul Mitchell smoothing serum. With your hair down of course. Straighten first, serum (one pump),ran all over hair after.
