Do condoms work if you mistakenly use something else as lube besides like KY?
I was very drunk and I had sex with this guy. He swore we used condoms and I did see evidence in the trash. He said that I had to use lube but I don't have any lube. He said it was next to my bed. The only things on my bed stand that look like lube are an anti-itch gel that is like Benderyl itch stopping gel for like poison ivy, a bottle of lidocaine which is a gel, and stapaseptic which is a pain relieving gel. Would any of these take away the effectiveness of a condom? It's been four days and I also have had any weird reaction down there which I was also worried about! He must not have realized that whatever we used wasn't lube either because the consistency is so similar. I had just finished my period three days before we had sex. We had sex four times (supposedly). I blacked out. I know that drinking that much was extremely stupid and I lost total control. I wasn't even attracted to the guy. He wants to see me again but I think he just wants to use me again. Anyways, should I be worried in case he had any STD? And what about pregnancy since I'm not on the pill?
I'm not a slut. I did act like one that night though. I made a mistake! By the way, I meant to say that I DID NOT have any any weird reaction.

That is a tough 1. I think that guy is being dishonest about using a condom. He probably tried and got frustrated and ripped the condom off, which is why you see the evidence. Did you check to see if the condom was in tact? Did it still have semen in it? I would definitely have an STD check and never see that guy again. You may want to consider not drinking again too. Some people just have trouble with booze. I am allergic to it myself. I break out in handcuffs. I stopped drinking about 3 years ago on my own free will under my own power with no AA intervention.

I have no idea but the ingredients in the Benadryl could have caused the condom to break down a little. Certain lubes can do that to condoms, that's why it's recommend to use water base lubes. Anyway there's always a chance to get an STD or to get pregnant when you have sex. The only way to be 100% safe is to not have sex at all.
Maybe your skin is having an allergic reaction down there from the Benadryl. To be safe I would suggest you go to your local clinic and get checked out. If it's been less than 72 hours since you had sex with him that "drunk night" then you should look into Plan-B. It's only effective 72 hours since the last time you had sex. You can get that at the clinic too, for free or for a very low price.
I wouldn't worry too much, just be sure and get check out. Be responsible with your body.

Oil based things eat through condoms so check if these products have anything oily in them (sorry I don't know)
Although you're unlikely to get pregnant at this time in your cycle you never know so you should take the emergency contraception pill if it is still within 72 hrs or you can get a coil fitted up to 5 days after.
As for STDs I'm afraid there is no choice to go to the doctors and check. While you're there he could check out the reaction you've had. I'm sure loads of people have mistakenly used the wrong tube.....at least it wasn't glue!!!

Any petroleum-based additive will dissolve latex. You should make an appointment Monday morning to see your Gynecologist. Tell the doctor what happened, so that proper testing can be done. You should definitely get tested for all STD's.
In the meantime until you can have a pregnancy test done, make sure you stop drinking alcohol. If your pregnancy test comes back negative, you should discuss birth control options with your doctor.
Be careful in the future, sounds like you're putting yourself into very dangerous situations with your drinking & risky behavior. You need to learn to respect yourself, before others will respect you. Everybody makes mistakes but, mistakes like this can result in devastating consequences. Seriously consider the choices you're making looking ahead, think twice before you see this person again. I doubt he is relationship material. Move on & begin making smarter decisions starting today.

Not trying to scare you or anything but really anything on a condom, that wasn't on there when you opened it, is not safe. You might have a strange feeling down there because you got some other gel in your area that wasn't supposed to go there. I wouldn't worry too much though, at least you were sober enough to use a condom.

well the only reason that the condom would not work was if it broke or the chemicals in the "lube" cause the condom latex to breakdown and desintigrate. I would see a GYNE if the itching doesn't go away. any of those products inside might hurt.

No, using anything other then a water-based lubricant may affect the condom, however, I'm not sure if those materials would affect it. There's always that possibility

condoms work as long as the lube doesn't disolve latex. You are fine in that reguard. Passing out, not so good.

Deep sighs, Jen, and if he were a considerate lover, you wouldn't have needed lube, duh. Listen, get a pregnancy test from the drug store and ease your mind about that little issue.Cross your fingers on the STD's, and have a little more respect for yourself.
