I'm a Democrat, huge Obama supporter and sincerely wish that he wins this election, however I do not.........?

I myself been thinking about this case scenario. This is very much possible because those criminals in the White House are capable even of greater evil than this one.

Technically it is possible to happen, but not very likely. I highly doubt that martial law will be instated, and if it is, many Americans would fight it, even if they don't like Obama. As for an assassination, no party is going to plan that out. It'll be a few mentally unstable people that would do it. No matter how good of protection someone has, a person who does not care about their own life and has a well thought out plan is impossible to stop from reaching their goal, at least in this situation.

In all honesty, I find things like this statement to try and pass the blame on to the opposing party. Do underhanded things happen in politics, all the time. However, with the vast majority of Congress being Democrats, I highly doubt any form of what you're talking about would have a chance of passing.

I'm an Independent with centrist beliefs. I have faith that the American voter is ready for a president that is half white/half black and red, white and blue through and through. The people of this nation will not stand still for for this administration usurping the Constitution to remain in power for 1 minute longer than it was legally elected to serve. As for assassination, if Obama is elected I believe security will be tightened to the extent that any assassination would be highly unlikely.

there is a new standing law since 911 that would allow the pres to invoke martial law and this would allow him to suspend many things including the election as well as many other right you may now have.

As of Oct 1st 2008 3rd Division will be on call to handle civilian crowd control and riots. ie martial law

I would think it was the other way around. I'm wondering if the dem's had something to do with the stock market to make the rep. look bad. but like the other person said it's probably just paranoia. There is the saying about absolute power corrupts absolutely

i totally agree, i'm scared to death for obama. i don't think he will be elected either, sadly to say. americans don't want a smart, insightful, take charge leader that can deliver and help out the "working man". they want an idiot like mccain and his trusty sidekick. thats why all the commentators on tv say he has to dumb down his speeches and when he gives interviews because the average american can't stand all those "fancy words". they want someone dumb like them, sarah palin. oh, and did i mention how some racist americans still are?

No on the latter, however they can spin the hell out of the truth causing him to loose the election.

I was wondering if McCain threatening to forgo the debate was testing the waters for the Marshall Law scenario you speak of. I am not impressed if they think that is going to happen and be okay. I will never respect my country again if they try that stunt.
