When I went to my last Ob/Gyn exam for my annual checkup I asked the girl that did my exam what made her decide to go into that field. She said she was 28 (like me) and originally worked as a delivery room nurse, and loved it. The hospital she worked out offered to pay for her schooling, and she received a major pay increase by studying to be a Nurse Practitioner. She said, for the most part, babies are a happy, joyous, celebrated event.
I don't think you have a sick mind. As long as there are women on the planet, and men to get the pregnant, we will need people to help with delivering babies. Don't let anyone dissuade you from doing or becoming what you want. It is your life and your job. As long as you enjoy, who cares what others think?

No and don't even pay attention to what your friends say! Its the greatest gift to be able to see life come into the world. Not to mention that the women and men are choosing you for that most intimate part of their life. Its a very respectful job and if you decide to get into it you'll be more than appreciated. Not to mention you'll get more out of it for your self then any other job! I wouldn't take to much into what your friends think you should do! After all who knows what they will be doing and if they will even make it in the world! Also you could be a midwife too! Do what makes you you happy! Good luck!

You are perfectly normal. Have you considered becoming a midwife? Less years of school and more normal births. As a midwife you can't do surgery like c-sections but you can assist the doctor with them. You can prescribe meds and you can work in a hospital or outside of one in a birth center or doing home births.

Go for it! Who cares if your friends tease you. You'll get the last laugh when you're the one with your own medical practice, delivering babies everyday and they are down at McDonald's flipping burgers.
