Contours of molecular orbitals?

If I'm given contours of the 12 molecular orbitals of the nitrite (NO2-) ion, how would I go about trying to figure out which MO's are formed from which AO's. My textbook isn't helping, and I can't seem to find any helpful sites.

NO2- is angular with respect to the nuclei, but N is trigonal [:N(=O)-O]^-. N and the O's are sp2 hybrided with their unhybrided p orbitals forming a pi network in which the electrons move from O to O (O=N-O- <-----> -O-N=O). So there are 3 sp2 sets and 3 p (pi) sets = 12 orbitals.
