I would have to say that motocross would come in just ahead of horseback riding. I grew up riding horses and spent most of my spare time on my horse. It is very physically demanding, but having sons who race mx and especially my youngest who is racing three classes at the moment, mx is the more demanding of the two. But you get a great workout from both.

Of course your friend will think that. I grew up on a farm with over 20 horses and have raced motocross since I was 10. If you compared a hard horse back ride to a very casual dirt bike cruise on a well groomed dirt road, then yes. If you compare a hard horse back ride to a hard dirt bike ride then no. As a matter of fact motocross racing is the second most physically demanding sport in the world second only to professional soccer.

Dirt bike riding is defiantly more of an exercise. You have to move your body into the corner's and ruts. Horse riding you jump and keep standing up all the time. I've been doingmotor-crosss for 3 yrs and have also done horse riding for 2yrs.Motor-crosss riding is definably harder and faster then horse riding.
So your right.

Id say a horse. You have nearly full control over a bike. Not so much on a horse lol. Even well trained horses can freak out just as youve learned the hard way.

When you ride a horse are you breathing so heavy that you get winded and start to get to tired to ride after 15 to 20 minutes? I hooked up a heart monitor and tracked my pulse. Motocross gets my heart rate over 150 bpm. Thats getting close to anaerobic areas. Horse back riding doesn't get you anywhere close to that.

i think it is but i have never ridden a horse. It all depends what your doing and what bike your riding. if your doing a full moto it is quite tiring all the practice and you get quite alot of arm pump. but i really dint know much about horse riding but you can ride a bike all day dunno bout a horse.
