Where is a nice area to live around Portland Oregon ?

I do know based on my experience downtown Portland is much safer than downtown L.A. - i flew into Portland at night a few years back, and was surprised to see nice-looking, well dressed women (definitely not hookers) walking around the downtown area, definitely in the "worst" part of town - like near the bus depot, etc. - it was a much different feel.

If sleeping in a car then beware of the cops obviously. Portland is a great city to live in and I recommend anywhere in the SE area. NE if you'll be commuting anywhere though as it has better access to the Max.

I'm leaving Thursday morning to travel up to Grants Pass, Oregon to do some construction work. I'm taking camping gear to save money, but it's possible I might be sleeping in a car myself. That's wild.

In Portland proper, anywhere on the eastside inside of 82nd is pretty good. Pearl District is awesome but pricey. For suburbs, Tigard/Tualatin is a nice area. I also attend church in Tigard (Tigard Christian Church).

The Tigard area is really nice. My church also has a church plant up there. It's called colossae church. My church is Cornerstone Community Church and we're based in Simi Valley, Ca.
