can i cash a check that does not have a name on it? in place of a name it says cash. and its signed .?

i was given a pesonal check and instead of putting my name on it they put cash and signed the check. she told me that i can go to any chase bank and cash it. but i dont think thats possible. is it?

    You might be able to take it to the bank it is written from and cash it. For example, if that is a Trustmark check, then go to a Trustmark branch.

    YOUR bank will probably cash it - using your account as the backup in case it turns out to be a bogus check.

    The bank the check is written from MIGHT cash it.

    In the future, it would be best to get the person to write your name in the "who to" line.

    Yes, you can cash this check. Just don't loose it. Since it is made out to cash anyone can cash it.

    Yes - anyone can cash a check made out to "cash".

    WELL.... LETS SEE NOW....

    YES.... If there are sufficient funds in her account.... either

    her or your bank SHOULD cash the check (if you have a

    proper ID). This isn't a very good (or SAFE) way to give

    anyone money.

    By the way.... you might want to check first.... maybe her

    bank has gone "BELLY-UP" !!!! IF SO... GOOD LUCK !!!!

    If yours is the name on the account then yes, otherwise unlike the old days they can be held responsible, or it can be said by check writer that it was stolen.

    thats exactly why its there- you cant deposit it, only cash it
