What should I say to a friend I hurt?

I accidentally let slip to a friend of mine that I thought his new girlfriend wasn't as pretty as his first and it seemed to have hurt him that I did not think she's pretty; he didn't say anything in response, but you could tell from the awkward silence that ensued he was upset by it. That happened yesterday, and it was a very stupid and shallow thing to say and I regret it very much. What should I say to him? He already thinks I look down upon his girlfriend, so I don't know how to fix this. I know I don't deserve it, but please help me; I feel very bad.

straight up tell him that what you said was stupid and shallow. u dont have to spill your guts to him. guys know it takes a lot to apologize to another guy...its like a man law.....its like man language actually. dont let it just blow over cuz thats hateful....once again, just say that it was a stupid and shallow comment. if u r too big of a sissy to say it in person, just send it in a text or somethin.
