Go with the first answer. If it beeps and then starts flashing yellow then you are screwed as systems power supply was messed up. Most say its because of overheating but it is also caused by surge and not having the PS3 plugged into a surge protector (I've seen it personally with my brothers PS3 during a thunderstorm) Your best bet is to get a new one if you have a warranty or if your warranty is up then you'll have to pay Sony $150 to get it fixed. And keep in mind if you send it to Sony for the payment or warranty they send you a refirbished unit 98% of the time. (Not your original) I've herad you can request your own back but it takes much longer.

turn off your ps3 and flip the switch off in the back

then pull out the power cord and w8 5mins

then put the power cord back in and it should work
