Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.
You can download and scan your computer for free.

Well, things to make your computer faster:
1) Use MSCONFIG.exe to shut off all unnecessary startup programs. Not having those programs running saves your processor and RAM a lot of hassle, and will make your computer a lot faster.
2) Don't use Norton or McAfee. They suck, dont protect your machine at all against anything, and suck up memory like mad. If you have them, completely remove them and get a new security suite, such as ZoneAlarm Internet Security. I personally use ZoneAlarm. It's the best for your money, and is nowhere near a memory hog and I've NEVER gotten a virus while it was protecting my machine.
3) Download CCleaner from www.ccleaner.com. Run it weekly. Also, run the registry cleaner once a month.
4) Make sure you have a fast DSL. There is 256k DSL which is SLOW. Make sure its 1.5+ Mb/s. Qwest now has a 20 Mb/s DSL which is blazing. I personally have Qwest's 7 Mb/s DSL.
5) Make sure you have adequate RAM. MS Windows Vista is a RAM hog and can be slow naturally. If you have XP, make sure you have a good processor (Intel Core, Pentium 4, or greater) and AT MINIMUM 512 MB RAM that is UNSHARED from your video card.
6) Make sure your Windows is always up to date with ALL updates including optional and hardware updates, as well as the 'required' ones. Make sure your auto update is turned on so you can at least get the express, required updates as much as possible.
7) Don't have a lot of icons on your desktop. A desktop with a ton of icons always has to 'redraw' those icons every time you view the desktop, which sucks up RAM and slows the machine down even more. On my desktop, I typically have between 3-8 icons max.
Problem being... you havent really defined 'slow'... so that might be helpful... but I hope these help!!!
