was there black presidents before ?
my teacher said there were black presidents before. like before George Washington and after him, but they only served a little time because they were black. and that we don't hear much about them because white people don't want you to know about them or something like that

In my day , I never heard that there was. Slavery kept the blacks as "prisoners" in the white man's world. Sad but true. The color of someones skin in these times, shouldn't matter. We have the privilege of voting for who is running and who we want and even write-ins. What a candidate stands for and what a candidate proposes to accomplish should matter and not what race they are.

Secretary Of State Condoleezza Rice
Former Secretary Of State Colin Powell
The Secretary Of State is the second office in line of succession to the Presidency of the United States, after only the Vice President. If the President and the Vice President were to suddenly die in office while a substantial amount of the President's term still remained, the Secretary Of State would succeed immediately to serve out the President's term. The Secretary Of State is an appointed cabinet post in the executive branch, a direct appointment by the President. The current Secretary Of State Condoleezza Rice (serving 2005 - present), and her predecessor Colin Powell (served 2001 - 2005), are the closest the United States has come to electing a black President.

That's just some weird conspiracy theory. People would know if there had been a black president, no matter how short of a term he ran... also there was no president before George Washington. He was the first president and the only to be unanimously voted into the White House.
Source(s): my social studies teacher from high school told me that even when the Electoral College was going to unanimously vote someone, at least one person voted against because they want George Washington to hold that honor as the only president to be unanimously voted. - Anonymous1 decade ago
There have been other Black folk RUN for president of the U.S.
I think your teacher is wrong.....make her prove it.
Clinton was said to be the first Black president.
Obama won't be the first Black even if he wins as he's just half Black.
The Supreme Court (higher than the president) had a Black first.
There are many Black folk in the Senate and the House.
