Do you have Kids/want kids?

I have 4 ,3 are adopted,nobody wants the 4th one.

When you live in an area where teenage pregnancy is looked at as normal, not looked at as a problem and is completely swept under the carpet, you start to wonder if we are doing *any* service by passing out condoms to teenagers. I lived in an area like this, and this wasn't a religious area, this wasn't an abstinence-only school system. It was simply an area where it was accepted as something that shouldn't happen, but "will happen anyway." This mentality is the type that allows for it to happen. The problem is the reinforcement that a society will give to the child. The children grow up in an environment where their parents may have had them young, their aunts/uncles have kids young, eventually it's their older siblings, then their peers, having kids young. It becomes reinforced in their minds "If they can do it, I can do it." Do you know how many times I have heard that statement come out of a teenager's mouth? When I was 15, I knew full well I couldn't have a child. Yet, I have met 15 year olds who not only believe that the would be a great mother at their age, but have been CONDITIONED to believe this. In a teenager's mind, when someone can relate to overcomes a challenge (ie, getting pregnant as a teenager), then suddenly that challenge is seen as less dire. That's why these idiots passing condoms out to teenagers, in areas where this is a crisis, are doing NO favors, because they fail to even recognize how these kids think. That's what the anti-abstinence-comprehensive-only people fail to address. These aren't people who actually have experience with these types of societies. "Oh, well.. teenagers won't listen to us when we tell them to be home on time, they don't listen when we tell them to do our homework, but surely they'll listen with *I* barge in and tell them to use condoms... because my standards for society are way too high." Yeah, right. In cultures where children are expected to be adults at earlier ages, then it's okay to have children since they can support them. Every culture will require different things in order to be a good parent. In our society, those things are not within-reach for a teenager, because people are not expected to be adults at 13-16, and are therefore ill-equipped to become parents. And it's not just limited to that age group, either. Anyway, what I think about it... well, most of them are terrible mothers, but usually because they are kids and they do not always understand the magnitude of how their actions, and the environment, will affect the child.

No, do not wish i had waited, i love my kids and i think i had them at the right time in my life.. ;0)

i do want kids, i would love to already a have a child but don't yet. i'm 21. i would like one soon. i know kids are work i've been raising other peoples children for years, and i mean almost 10 years.

I don't have kids yet because I'm only 16. But I want to start having kids in my early to mid 20's.

bec kids are a hand-full and i still have a whole life ahead of me so whats the rush lol

im only 13 right now. im not sure if i want to have kids or not. i might change my mind like a million times before i turn about 20. LoL.

I'm seventeen and don't want kids for another ten years. My mom had me when she was thirty eight. Its nice having older parents. But I do want kids.

im only 16 so i dont want any kids anytime soon. maybe 10 more years, who knos maybe even 15

I do not desire children. I'd probably just mess them up.
