Have just tried to upgrade my basic sky box to a sky + box. Sky want £150 for the box, and an additional £60?

yes haggle, they are advertising for a lot less than that.

Just cancel your sky completly, wait a month (you will still be able to view the free channels during this time) then find one of the offers where you get it all free.

Or you could simply go onto Ebay and buy a Sky + Box for £25 and install it yourself by simply changing the cables from the back of the old box into the new one.

All Sky + is a box with a hard drive so you can record of sky, it does not take any special fitting, so don't let them tell you otherwise

Tell sky to put their box where the mice won`t get it. You could try switching to Virgin Media (wireless and cable), they only charge you for the basic installation and they never charge for their cable plus boxes or indeed any of their boxes. Also, if your remote control or your box breaks down they replace them free of charge unlike sky. The reason for this is that unlike sky who force you to buy their equipment with cable you never own it you only rent it and yet their packages are cheaper than sky. Hope this helps...

Hell yeah it's a lot of money but sky are a rip off!! Try introducing a friend to sky plus, if they sign up you get your box for free!! Good luck!x

Tell them that's way over the odds on price, and you're gonna go with Virgin Media or BT - then watch their price drastically come down. My friend did this and they installed it for free in the end and gave her a big discount off the actual box.

Try telling them you want to cancel with them.

My Sky+ broke, and I was told, I'd have to pay for a new box. £150.

I left it a day or 2 told them I wanted to cancel my package.

The day after there was an engineer knocking on my door with a brand spanking shiny new box. (No charge)

Maybe they won't do it for free, but they may just charge for the installation.

yeah I had to pay 100 for the box and 60 for installation - it was worth every penny though!

tell them that you want to terminate your account - and if you have a partner open up another one in their name as sky + has free installation on sky + to new customers.

Why dont these companies that it is the consumer has more power than them as we can say no!!

Oh yeah thats is alot im sure my mom didnt pay that much for and upgrade.

You should haggle with them...if you tell them you're gonna close your account they'll probably give you a discount.
