Do you mean the battery will not hold a charge? That it will not run on the adapter?

It also depends on what type of laptop you have. More details required.

    Hello

Well if "won't Power up" means DEAD then try a these trouble shooting steps.

    Change the battery OR..............

Take the battery and put it in a zip lock bag. Place the battery in the freezer for 17 hours. Take out of freezer and let battery cool down to room temp. Power cycle battery 3-4 times. Put back in laptop and see what happens. I have used it in the past and it has given me a good results.

If that doesn't work. Look at the DC jack. Check to see if its loose. If thats the case, take it to a shop and tell them the problem. They may have to re-solder the DC Jack or replace it. Also the problem may be with the charger you are using. It may not be giving the laptop enough power.

If none of these steps work then most likely its your MoBo(motherboard). Hope this helps.

Some reasons why this must be happening include

    .The battery has fried

.The motherboards malfunctioned. THis can be from a heavy load or overheating

    .

.If the computer will boot up and the screen goes blank, you can have a hard drive or video card problem.

I would double check with the computer manufacturer But if this is your problem you can get a new hard drive a a local electronic store or online. But if you have a warranty the manufacturer can fix it. I hope this answers your question

Take it to a reliable computer diagnostician.

    Make sure they are reliable.

Unfortunately, there are those in business that know less than I do about diagnostics and repair.

Stay away from stores (like Best Buy)

Not to say ALL the guys on "Geek Squad" don't know anything.

    Some are pretty smart.

It's just it will cost you more.

Is it plugged in? If its not plugged in, is the battery charged. Try unplugging it and taking out the battery for 30 seconds and then replace battery and try again. Carefully - not too long and not too short - try turning it on. If all else fails, take it to the computer doctor.

you need to provide more details. Will the Laptop power up and work when you take the battery off and just use the mains? if so then your battery is buggered. if not then you need to take it to the shop wher eyou bought it if under warrinty? if not then shop around and find somewhere that will repair it cheaply for you.
