Why does my laptop crash at the same time every night?
My laptop is switched on pretty much full time, including overnight as I like to listen to podcasts as I go to sleep. Lately when I wake up and open my laptop it's completely frozen with the clock stuck at 4:45am and I have to hold the power button down to make it switch off. It always freezes at the same time and it doesn't seem to matter what time I put it down the night before. What could be causing this? Updates aren't set to run at that time or anything so I'm lost. Can anyone offer a diagnosis?

Maybe you have a program that launches at that time. Try to stay awake and use it from 4.30 AM to 5.00AM.
But hey look on the bright side..at least it's consistent :)

I would bet my money you have an automated process, like a virus scan or disk defragmenter that's set to take place at 4:45. And the program's probably corrupted or just doesn't get along with your computer.
Check your virus scanners or diskeeper or whichever if you have it and turn off automated scanning/whatever.

Is it because it is overheating? Or someone put a batch file prank on you?
